This photo was taken near Rogers Pass in early June 61.

We did not always have the comfort of a motorhome or even a tent trailer. During this particular trip, it was so cold that we had to heat rocks to keep warm. It was an old trick learned from one of the campers we had met. The idea was to heat the rocks and stuff them in woolen socks. We then would place the rocky socks at the foot of our sleeping bag, thus keeping our feet warm all night.

Not only was the tent 'old and decrepit' but, I seem to recall that we could not even afford such an old tent. We had had to borrow that one! But still, those were the good days.
