Opening RemarksThis Newsletter is the HTML version of the Compuflash Bulletin which was e-mailed to subscribers of the Bulletin. If you wish to subscribe to the (free) Compuflash Bulletins, please click here. and fill out the short form. A welcoming message should then reach you minutes after sending your submission. Get the Past Issues Past issues of the Compuflash Bulletins are also available. They are listed in reversed chronological order. This will allow you to find any topic using the search function of your browser. Most of the topics are still very much current!
Current issues in HTML format I long debated whether I should come out with another Bulletin or not but, given the URL's featured in this one, you will readily understand why I did. The first featured site will convince you I did 'the right thing'.
What's New at Omega?I recently suffered a total 'puter crash, and I mean a 'real' crash. As a result, I lost (a) all my recent list of 'hot bookmarks', (b) all of my most recent e-mail correspondence, (c) several 'updated' Omega site files and, almost, (d) the will to keep going! Which may help explain why Omega has had hiccups lately. But now, after replacing the computer and burning some midnight oil.... I'm back at it. The Concerts in the Park and most other musical pages have been re-installed in Omega. I had, for the past three weeks, made available all the Concerts, including the Xmas Concert in Zip format but I had to remove them from the site due to space consideration. You now, as in the past, can enjoy them 'online' at Omega. The Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra has found a new home! It is now located at Mel Webb's homepage, a fitting move, considering my good friend Mel did all the musical arrangements. The page is maintained by his son Jim and I am endebted to him for so readily agreeing to 'take on the torch', so to speak. Thank's Jim.

Graphics UtilitiesIRFAN VIEW32 - GRAPHICS BROWSER
Another winner if I ever saw one! Use it to view all your graphics as a slide show or individually (several formats supported) The best feature I like is it's ability to pick any of your preferred graphics and install them as your desktop background graphic. You have to try this one. It is 'freeware' for 'home use'. 20/20 IMAGE VIEWER/CONVERTER
The complete list of features for this superb program would fill a page or two. One of the best such application now available. LINK MANAGE
If you have hundreds of URLs to manage, then this is the application to get. Comes with hundreds (if not thousands) of some of the best sites available today. Not an easy program to use but once mastered, you'll wonder how you managed without it.
Internet Tools & AppsGET RIGHT
With all these humongous files to download, you want GetRight. Should you get disconnected just when you are 50K short of the full, already downloaded 3 MegBytes, GetRight will reconnect and resume from where it left off! No one should be without this 'super tool'. Check the details at their homepage ONLINE DAILY WEB PLANNER How I wish I had had the use of this Free service last summer when I was on the road for over three months. Not only could I have kept up with my e-mail but I would have had access to my daily planner and address book from 'anywhere' I happened to be. If you use but one of the many links contained in this newsletter, you should make it this one! DWP is the world's 1st Web based FREE daily planner. 'The' online search program par excellence! None better. The beauty of this search program is that it searches up to 33 search engines simulatenously and optionally present the findings in an HTML file which can be saved for further study offline. A search on 'Compunews' resulted in 275 'hits', with over 95% accuracy and, within seconds! This little jewel has become my search tool of preference!
WEB FERRET
This one remains one of my favorite search application. Several other (time-limited) titles are available at the author's web page but the WebFerret is not time limited. You can read all the details here or
Misc AppsDISCOMANIA
Remember the good old days when you had to use a good disk cataloguer to keep track of those hundreds of floppies? With over 20 Iomega disks (each 100 MB) and 5 Giga Bytes onboard, I was desperately looking for a 'good' disk cataloguer. I found it! Now, with one quick query on the search function, I can locate a ZIP file in seconds, among all that mess. Easy to use. DAILY LOG ORGANISER by Digita
This has to be the best desktop organiser I have found yet. The unregistered version contains a few 'nagware screens' but you can register it for free by simply answering four questions and e-mailing them to the authors. A registration code is sent to you via e-mail and off you go. You can also obtain additional nifty software at their homesite. which I recommend you visit. Or you can WORD WEB THESAURUS/DICTIONARY
This is a stand-alone thesaurus/dictionary you will want at the 'ready' for instant use. An amazing tool no wordsmith should be without! Also works with several popular word processors.
YEAR 2000 TEST
Everybody talks about the Year 2000 'Bug'. Will your computer handle the change? Check it out with this standalone test. This Freeware program will also test for problems with leap years that follow the year 2000.

This Freeware goodie sits in your task bar. Very easy to use and 'fast'. FUNCTIONAL MAC MENU BAR
If you made the switch from your beloved Mac and are suffering withdrawal symptoms.... this little? (2 MB) cutie will interest you. A working Mac menu bar on a PC? What a concept!
Parting Remarks
As my wife and I will be hosting our eight year old grandson for the summer months, it probably means I will not be reverting to my usual summer's hobo mode and tour the country as we did the past few years. The good news is: I will probably put out another Bulletin or two, come summer. As always, if you should wish to 'unsubscribe' from the Bulletin, and all this gibberish, a simple friendly e-mail note will do the trick. Two have done so in the past three years, but one never knows...
Enjoy!
