WebFerret has to be the neatest and fastest way ever to search the Net. Fast to download, easy to install and even easier to use. A check of 'Compunews' produced 64 hits, all relevant, in less than a minute! Running your mouse over each 'hit' gives you a summary of what you can expect to find at that URL. Double-click on the URL and you're there. You call Ferret from the Start Menu, enter your search term and off you go.

A'must' for every serious surfer. get it at:

Possible Crescendo Problems

One of the most appreciated features of The Omega Connection pages, judging from your e-mail, appears to be the musical selections offered on most pages.

Unfortunately, that feature also seems to create problems for many in that not all Internet Service Providers supply the special code required for Crescendo to work properly.

Should your browser have the Crescendo Plug-in installed and yet be unable to flawlessly play the selections, the problem likely lies with your Provider. In this case, I would recommend that you uninstall Crescendo until your provider fixes the problem.

For the benefit of those who experience no problem with my pages featuring Midi selections, I will leave those pages unchanged and will continue to 'rotate' the selections on a regular basis.

I am presently working on a new, improved MIDI page. When completed, it will contain all 'music related' features and the autoplay feature will then be removed from 'all' other pages.

http://www.compunews.com/~jsav/music.htm

I also modified the opening page to permit `all' who login to view it without crashing their browser.

http://www.compunews.com/~jsav/omega.htm

I would much appreciate your feedback on this matter. Let me know how the autoplay feature works on `your' machine, stating which browser you use and its version.

Once in a blue moon you come across a site that is so hot, so new, so good that you have to tell the world about it and share the good news.

Today is the day. In fact, this site is so new, it's not even officially online yet. Here's your chance to beat the sure to materialize rush.

Yes folks... Yahoo did it again. Not long ago, they came out with a special service aimed at kids and young-at- hearts

(http://www.yahooligans.com/) and now, outdoing themselves, they offer:

My-Yahoo .

What is 'My Yahoo'? I could easily write ten pages about it but why should I because, after loggin in their page (see below), they take you on a five-page conducted tour that explains it much better than I could.

Suffice it to say that it is a an homepage 'personally tailored' to your very own specifications!

You must fill a registration form out but it is free and painless.

MyYahoo is like having a live, ever changing bookmark program. Enough said about it. Why don't you just surf on down there right away before it 'goes public' in a few days? Because, when it does.... it's going to be one busy site! And remember... you first heard about it here Find it at:

http://my.yahoo.com/

Wait folks.... there's more

If you are a medium to heavy duty surfer who gathers so many new URL's in one day that you have trouble keeping track of them.... there is hope.

If you like testing new applications that are at the pointed end of technology, this new app is for you.

If you'd like to 'capture' entire pages, complete with graphics, hot links, and store them in a cabinet in your hard drive.... yep! this one's for you.

OK. It is called DocuMagix HotPage. And you can find out all about it at:

http://www.documagix.com/

The download is reasonably fast, the installation is painless and it's operation is easy. One caveat however... by the very nature of its operation this program generates tons of files which are saved on your hard drive (???). But, if you have the space...

Many thanks to all of you who wrote in the last ten days or so. I much appreciated your comments. They topped up my energy tank and I am now rearing to go a few thousand more miles.

As you may have guessed by now, I do spend most of my summer days on the water (after all, I am retired and that's what retirees are supposed to do, right?) but I always come back in time to keep adding to my 'Latest Jewels' page!

If you have not visited it for the last few days, it may be worth your online time to drop in.

Note: The musical selection feature added to most pages has proven very popular so far, judging from the mail I received on the subject. Much work is involved on the part of the authors/sequencers to produce those beautiful numbers so, if you do enjoy their music, please drop them a quick line to let them know their work is appreciated. I am sure they, in turn, will most appreciate your kind gesture. Just use the provided 'hot link'.

Hello Folks. I'm Back!

Amazing how fast five weeks can go by. My wife and I are back from our 7200 mile journey via motorhome and it's Net Time folks!

Many thanks to all those who wrote or signed the guestbook; it made for very encouraging reading and I thank you all. Truth be told, I have been back for a few days but going through nearly 1000 pieces of e-mail does take time and I haven't managed to answer all the mail yet but, keep the faith.... I'm working hard at it.

Rather than listing the latest URL's in this Compuflash I have elected to add them to the 'Latest Links' page of The Omega Connection instead, a new method I will follow from now on. For a quick link, you can cut&paste the following URL but then, you have Omega bookmarked, yes?

PSN

The coolest thing happened as I was downloading the latest news tonight... A message flashed by saying "An updated version of PSN is now available. Would you like to have it?" I clicked 'yes' and, in matter of seconds, the updated files were loaded on the computer, installed... and the news load resumed. All within two minutes! And have you noticed how smooth that TV screen is on the upper right hand corner? Does this mean TV news online is next?

Soon? If you don't get your daily news via PSN yet, try it... it will become your news source of choice, guaranteed!

Canadian Homepage of the Year Nominations The Canuck Site of the Day is taking nominations for "the Canadian Home Page of the Year".
