Time is too slow, for those who wait

Too swift, for those who fear

Too long for those who grieve

Too short, for those who rejoice.

But, for those who love,

Time is eternity!




If I should die and leave you here awhile, 

Be not like the others, sore undone, who keep 

Long vigil by the silent dust and weep. 

For my sake turn again to life and smile,

Nerving thy heart and trembling hand to do

That which will comfort other souls than mine; 

Complete these dear unfinished tasks of mine, 

And I, perchance, may therein comfort you.
